That's the spirit! make it look as awful as possible, even if you have to use nonstandard html to do it. Well done. (But compared to the html this blogger form can create, it's really not that bad. Things like using a <span> tag for italics)

Surprisingly it's not a Google thing, it's a Firefox thing. All HTML rich text editors use some browser-supplied editor that generates the HTML code automatically at the whim of the browser.

Try the Mozilla Rich Text Editor with and without the "Use CSS" flag checked. Without this flag, it will generate horrible non-XHTML compliant things FONT tags.
